To maintain, repair, inspect, plan, modify, design, install and calibrate instrumentation and control systems for water and wastewater facilities; to maintain and repair water/wastewater related process equipment, and computer interface software and equipment.

Install instrumentation systems related to electronics, instrumentation control, telemetry, telecommunications, hydraulics, pneumatics and a variety of other systems.

Record and verify accuracy of flow, temperature, pressure and other measuring, recording and transmitting devices associated with water wastewater facilities.

Participate in the fabrication, mounting and wiring of systems and devices.

Maintain calibration, configuration control, preventive maintenance, and system integrity records; recommend calibration intervals; perform routine alignment and calibration on electronic equipment.

Design and repair instrumentation systems, equipment and components, both in the field and in the shop.

Diagnose, troubleshoot, update and repair malfunctioning systems and equipment, calibration problems and other measuring, recording and transmitting device failures.

Modify, design, and change control circuits, install temporary systems to sustain operations.

Ensure safe and reliable power to all electronic processes.

Modify and implement computer software programs for data logging and control.

Maintain efficient records on operations and activities; coordinate and prepare a variety of reports on data.

Interpret and modify drawings, blueprints, schematics and diagrams for; estimating time and materials and as-built data.

Requisition materials and supplies for system requirements; provide direction to subordinates, outside contractors, engineers, and vendors.

Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.

Ability to field design (improvise) a replacement system to maintain compliance with state and local codes and regulations.

Ability to communicate effectively with county staff and the general public in both verbal and written forms.

Ability to prepare project cost estimates.

Technical operation and maintenance of modern electric devices.

Understand the operating characteristics of electronic components.

Principles and practices of instrumentation calibration and alignment procedures.

Occupational hazards and standard safety practices and electrical codes.

Modern office procedures, methods and computer equipment.

Characteristic operations of water and wastewater facilities.

High school diploma or equivalent.

Two-year degree in an advanced electronics field.

Minimum of five years of increasingly responsible experience in the maintenance, repair, fabrication and installation of instrumentation systems in a water/wastewater treatment system desirable.

Substantial course work in water/wastewater electronics and electricity is highly desirable.

This is sometimes heavy work requiring the exertion of 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Work requires climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, and repetitive motions. Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of spoken word. Hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels. Visual acuity is required for color perception, visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, assembly or fabrication of parts at or within arms' length, operation of machines, operation of motor vehicles or equipment, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities. The worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions, extreme cold, extreme heat, noise, vibration, hazards, atmospheric conditions and oils. The worker may be exposed to blood borne pathogens and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment.

Possession of a valid driver's license with good driving record.

Willingness to be on call 24 hours per day, 7 days a week
