The role involves providing care for general medical/surgical patients and surgical oncology patients. The unit has a total of 34 beds and utilizes a range of telemetry monitoring equipment. Nurses are expected to participate in the management of chemotherapy, requiring certification in this area. Patient ratios are typically maintained at 1 nurse to 6 patients. Candidates must possess strong teamwork skills and an outgoing personality to fit well within the unit culture. The unit operates 24 hours a day, with shifts available on a rotating schedule. Staffing is managed by a nurse manager and directors to ensure appropriate coverage at all times. The ideal candidates will have experience in med/surg settings, and while not mandatory, advanced certifications such as ACLS and chemotherapy certification are preferred. Dressing in navy scrubs is required for this position. Successful candidates will be recognized for their contributions through various awards within the team.
