The city of Petersburg was founded around 1745 by a man called Jacob Peterson, who owned the area's first merchandising store. Petersburg was incorporated in 1910. "The Manor" is an L shaped Greek revival style brick dwelling and a place to visit. Welton Park is located just outside of Petersburg in nearby Grant, West Virginia where a great many family tradition restaurants should also be visited!
