Job Overview

Provides professional customer service to the public, county departments, and external agencies regarding motor vehicle registrations, titling, and other Treasurer's Office services. With regular attendance, this position supports the efficient operation of the office. Supervision exercised: None

Essential Functions, Duties and Responsibilities

Essential duties include: greeting and assisting customers in completing transactions to obtain registrations and motor vehicle titles, accepting and reviewing documents for accuracy, processing various types of title requests, collecting payment for vehicle registrations, taxes and titles, balancing and reconciling individual cash drawer, notating, collecting, and releasing liens on motor vehicle titles, processing information from a variety of database sources, fulfilling the role of a peer mentor during employee training, and performing other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or G.E.D. and 3 years of work experience in a customer service position. Knowledge, skills, and abilities include effective communication and interpersonal skills, ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively, proficiency in using the Microsoft Office Suite and other software related to data management, communication, and other common business processes, ability to follow established policies and procedures for confidentiality, ability to build and maintain positive relationships within a team, knowledge of customer service principles and practices, knowledge of motor vehicle titling, registration, and licensing procedures, knowledge of cash handling procedures and basic accounting principles, knowledge of office administration practices, recordkeeping methods, and filing systems, skill in providing professional, courteous, and effective customer service in a fast-paced environment, and skill in reviewing documents for accuracy and compliance with established requirements.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions

The work environment is primarily in an office setting involving regular use of computers, standard office equipment, and frequent interaction with both internal staff and the public in a structured, task-oriented atmosphere. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential tasks.
