Duties

The duties include:

• Handling routine medication-related activities.
• Making recommendations to clinical staff regarding medication therapy.
• Documenting recommendations and interventions.
• Accurately filling or checking medication dispensing units, prescriptions, and aseptically prepared intravenous admixtures and other aseptically prepared pharmaceuticals.
• Filling or causing to be filled all physician orders and requests (inpatient and outpatient) in a timely manner.
• Tracking and finding resolution in the Joint Patient Safety Reporting system (JPSR) pertaining to pharmacy service in a timely manner.
• Tracking and finding resolution in Patient Advocate Tracking System (PATS) pertaining to pharmacy service in a timely manner.
• Documenting all patient medication teaching sessions and consults in the patient electronic record.
• Providing drug information and education to medical staff, nursing staff, pharmacy staff, other health care personnel, patients and their representatives on medication-related topics as needed or assigned. This may include both informal and formal presentations.
• Assuming an active role in the overall pharmacy-training program by providing orientation, guidance and training to pharmacists, technicians, students, residents, etc., to ensure that pharmacy and medical center procedures and techniques are shared and learned to the necessary degree.
• Acting as a preceptor or mentor for pharmacy student and resident rotations.

Work Schedule: Full-Time, rotating day shifts with occasional nights, weekends, and holidays
