Join The Spear Group in a contract-to-hire opportunity supporting a major utility client.

This is a hands-on Project Controls Specialist role supporting project managers and field teams on large-scale utility construction projects. The position focuses on project coordination, reporting, documentation, scheduling support, and financial tracking to help ensure projects remain organized and on schedule. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and enjoys working in a fast-paced project environment.

Responsibilities:

• Support project managers with project documentation, reporting, and administrative coordination
• Maintain project schedules, trackers, financial logs, and status reports
• Assist with work request tracking, invoicing, purchase orders, and budget updates
• Coordinate project documentation between field personnel, contractors, vendors, and utility stakeholders
• Prepare meeting agendas, capture meeting notes, and follow up on action items
• Monitor project milestones and help identify schedule or documentation gaps
• Maintain accurate project records and ensure documentation is complete and up to date
• Assist with data entry, reporting, and project closeout activities
• Support project teams with day-to-day coordination to help keep projects moving efficiently

Preferred Qualifications:

• 1–3 years of experience in project coordination, project controls, construction administration, or a related support role
• Experience supporting utility, construction, engineering, or infrastructure projects preferred
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and project tracking tools
• Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Experience working with project documentation, scheduling, budgets, or reporting is a plus
