Arnold Walter Nursing and Rehabilitation Center is seeking a dependable and hardworking Housekeeper/Porter to help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for our residents, staff, and visitors.
Responsibilities
- Perform daily housekeeping duties, including cleaning and polishing furniture, fixtures, and heating/cooling units.
- Clean and sanitize resident rooms, bathrooms, recreational areas, and common areas.
- Sweep, mop, wax, and disinfect floors while following proper safety procedures and using caution signs.
- Vacuum, shampoo, and disinfect carpets as needed.
- Clean walls, ceilings, mirrors, and other assigned areas.
- Remove and dispose of waste properly while maintaining infection control standards.
- Follow fire safety, hand hygiene, chemical handling, and waste disposal procedures.
- Properly mix and use cleaning chemicals according to established guidelines and SDS requirements.
- Report accidents, unsafe conditions, equipment problems, or maintenance concerns to the supervisor.
- Keep utility closets and janitorial areas clean, organized, and properly stocked.
- Communicate resident concerns, supply needs, and other issues to the appropriate supervisor.
Qualifications
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and established cleaning procedures.
- Strong attention to cleanliness, safety, and organization.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication skills and willingness to accept constructive feedback.
- Ability to safely handle cleaning chemicals and housekeeping equipment.
- Previous housekeeping experience in a healthcare or skilled nursing setting is a plus.
