STATEWIDE PSYCHIATRIC DIRECTOR  POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking an experienced and mission-driven Psychiatric Director to provide statewide clinical leadership and psychiatric oversight for correctional healthcare services throughout the state of Kansas. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing psychiatric services across multiple correctional facilities, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based behavioral healthcare to an underserved patient population.

The Statewide Psychiatric Director will collaborate closely with facility leadership, medical providers, behavioral health teams, and operational partners to support clinical excellence, regulatory compliance, provider mentorship, and continuity of care across the system. This position combines direct clinical oversight with strategic leadership and program development.

STATEWIDE PSYCHIATRIC DIRECTOR MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Must have current unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Kansas. Must be Board Certified in Psychiatry .Must have valid unrestricted DEA License.Must have Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.Must have knowledge of managed healthcare systems, medical quality assurance, quality improvement and risk management is requiredMust have experience in launching and managing innovative medical programs including developing, conducting, and evaluating program audits.Must have experience working with information technology staff to implement and manage sophisticated practice management and/or EHR software packages is required.Must be able to demonstrate leadership ability, team management, and interpersonal skills.Must be proficient with use of Internet, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.Must be a supportive team member who contributes to and demonstrates teamwork and team concept.Able to deal tactfully with personnel, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.Possess leadership and supervisory ability and be able to work harmoniously with and supervise other personnel. STATEWIDE PSYCHIATRIC DIRECTOR ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Provide psychiatric leadership and clinical oversight for behavioral health services across multiple correctional facilities throughout KansasDevelop, implement, and monitor psychiatric policies, procedures, and clinical best practicesEnsure compliance with applicable state, federal, accreditation, and contractual standardsCollaborate with multidisciplinary leadership teams to improve patient outcomes and continuity of careSupervise, mentor, and support psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, and behavioral health staffParticipate in quality improvement initiatives, peer review activities, and utilization management processesAssist with provider recruitment, onboarding, retention, and performance managementReview complex psychiatric cases and provide clinical consultation as neededSupport crisis intervention efforts and behavioral health programming initiativesAnalyze clinical data and trends to identify opportunities for operational and clinical improvementMaintain appropriate clinical documentation standards and medication management oversightParticipate in statewide leadership meetings and strategic planning initiatives
