The role provides routine and emergency care, training, and support across multiple residential homes. Positions are available for Morning, Evening, and Night shifts. Workers may earn additional pay for evenings, nights, and/or weekends. The role may also require driving a state-owned vehicle. Key Responsibilities Perform personal care duties including grooming, bathing, feeding, lifting, and positioning. Assist with medication administration and observe/respond to medication side-effects. Support crisis intervention, behavior management, and emergency response, including CPR. Document resident activities, behaviors, and progress in electronic systems. Engage residents in person-centered activities and training programs. Implement and support habilitation, rehabilitation, and behavior support plans. Maintain a safe, sanitary environment and report safety hazards. Participate in transport of residents to scheduled activities and emergencies. Follow procedures for reporting abuse, neglect, restraints, or incidents. Act as shift or team lead when a higher-level lead is absent. Assist with disaster response or continuity of operations plans, as required. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs) Knowledge of individual care techniques and developmental programs. Proficient reading, writing, and speaking in English. Clear verbal and written communication skills. Decision-making and good judgment in critical incidents. Quick and calm emergency response. Proper body mechanics, posture, and lifting techniques. Ability to administer first aid, CPR, Ukeru, and Safe Use of Restraint. Training, mentoring, or coaching others. Teamwork and flexibility in assignments. Basic individual care and training techniques mastery. Licensure, Certifications and Driver Requirements Valid Texas driver’s license or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire. Certification in CPR, First Aid, Ukeru, and/or Safe Use of Restraint preferred. Qualifications Initial Screening Criteria – Required: High School diploma, GED, or 6 months of relevant work experience. Initial Screening Criteria – Preferred: Six months of experience working with individuals who have mental health or intellectual developmental disabilities. Experience as a DSP. Experience implementing behavior programs for persons with intellectual developmental disabilities. Experience writing reports. Additional Information All applicants must pass a fingerprint criminal background check, pre-employment drug screen, and registry checks. Must register with Selective Service if male, 18–25 years.
