Summary
This recruitment is to fill a Special Duty Assignment (SDA) that is open to Career Service, Career Service Exempt or other regular (non-temporary) employees in King County who have completed their County probation in their current position. You must have supervisor approval prior to taking a Special Duty Assignment. This position is anticipated to last for 6 months or less, but subject to change dependent on business need. Public Health - Seattle & King County First Steps Program is seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Nutritionist II - WIC Lead to join its North Meridian WIC and MSS/ICM Team. Successful candidates in this role are considered leads who provide support and work direction/training to assigned staff and will be responsible for performing the full scope of Nutritionist duties and providing nutrition program coordination for a specific geographical area.Note: This posting will create a list of qualified candidates that may be considered for selection of additional vacancies of the same position type over the next 6 months. Work Schedule Typical work schedule is Monday through Friday, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. This is a non-exempt position and is subject to the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act and is overtime eligible. Work Location Primary work location will be based at the North Meridian Public Health Center located at 10521 Meridian Ave N, Seattle, 98133.
Employees must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.
Job Duties
- Overseeing and leading individual and group nutrition programs and sessions.
- Providing nutrition-based assessments, counseling, education and evaluations.
- Planning, coordinating, and evaluating nutrition programs for the site and community.
Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills
Our ideal candidate will demonstrate the following (Minimum):- Bachelor or Masters of Science, or Masters of Public Health in Nutrition.
- Current Registered Dietitian (RD) registered with the Commission on Dietetic Registration or have the ability to attain registration by date of hire.
- Must be Washington State Certified Dietitian (CD) or be able to obtain within 30 days.
- A National Provider Identifier (NPI) must be obtained within the first 30 days of employment.
- Candidates selected will also be required to successfully complete the department credentialing process prior to hire and maintain credentialing for the duration of employment.
- Documentation of current BLS CPR certification with AED training required at time of offer. CPR/AED Heartsaver courses do not meet this requirement.
- Ability to obtain Washington State Medical Assistant-Registered or Phlebotomist license within 30 days of hire in order to perform hemoglobin/hematocrit testing on WIC participants.
- Demonstrated skill and experience in providing direct client nutrition services in a health care setting, preferably WIC, MSS and ICM services.
- Demonstrated experience providing nutrition education in a group setting; as well as clear ability to organize, lead, and facilitate group discussions and staff training.
- Demonstrated experience in planning, scheduling, coordinating and evaluating the work of assigned staff.
- Master's of Science or Master's of Public Health in Nutrition plus two years of experience.
- Demonstrated advanced Excel skills.
- Familiarity with WIC System (Cascades) and/or EPIC electronic health record (EHR).
- Work experience providing WIC and/or First Steps (Maternity Support Services and Infant Case Management).
- Work experience providing training on nutrition services and principles to other staff.
- Established knowledge of local health and social service resources available in the community and skill in establishing working relationships with community partners.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish.
