OR Technical Assistant-3rd Shift-VUH

Job Summary Assist with the coordination of the daily patient surgical schedule. Ensures instrumentation and supplies are verified according to preference cards and added to case cart prior to entry into operating room. Ensures the appropriate specialty equipment is available and placed in each operating room prior to the scheduled procedure. Assists with the operating room turnover by utilizing proper sterile technique to open supplies and position specialty equipment. Key Responsibilities Respond to emergency calls or requests for cleaning services. Assist in preparing the room for procedures to meet special equipment needs. Perform instrument sterilization for specialized instruments; turnovers utilizing principles outlined by AAMI standards. Maintain equipment, supply, and instrumental preparation and cleanliness for surgical procedures. Additional duties may be assigned as needed. Technical Capabilities Sterilization Preparation (Intermediate) : Demonstrates mastery of sterilization preparation in practical applications and can work independently, train and lead others. Customer Service (Intermediate) : Keeps management informed, ensures customer satisfaction, negotiates service levels, and resolves unexpected demands smoothly. Surgical Equipment Knowledge (Intermediate) : Demonstrates mastery of equipment, knowledge of performance criteria, resolves equipment problems, and uses devices for advanced tasks.
