About Pleasant Vista

Pleasant Vista on Dancing Creek is an emerging luxury destination estate in Amherst County, Virginia, overlooking the Blue Ridge Mountains. Thoughtfully restored from a beloved former community school, Pleasant Vista brings together weddings, private celebrations, executive retreats, overnight accommodations, wellness experiences, and estate dining. Our hospitality is relaxed yet refined, deeply connected to the land, and infused with a Tuscan soul.

Employment: Part-time; Event-based/as-needed employee position; hours vary according to scheduled events and production needs.

Compensation: $17-$22/hour, depending on demonstrated skills and experience.

The opportunity

Pleasant Vista is seeking dependable line cooks who care about correct preparation, clean organization, attractive food, thoughtful ingredient use, and teamwork. Our culinary style is simple yet elegant, with seasonal menus shaped by our gardens, regional ingredients, sustainability, wellness, and gracious Virginia hospitality. Work may include prep days, tastings, weddings, retreats, private dinners, and estate events.

What you will do

 Complete assigned mise en place from recipes, prep lists, garden harvests, and chef direction.

 Cook and finish menu items using commercial ranges, ovens, combi ovens, grills, and other equipment as trained.

 Portion accurately and follow established seasoning, temperature, plating, garnish, and presentation

standards.

 Label, date, rotate, store, cool, reheat, and hold food safely while keeping the station clean and organized.

 Support banquet plating, buffet setup, replenishment, breakdown, sanitation, and kitchen reset.

 Reduce waste through careful trimming, proper storage, rotation, whole-product use, and portion control.

What we are looking for

 Professional kitchen experience preferred; capable culinary-school graduates and developing cooks will be considered.

 Basic knife skills, recipe comprehension, organization, and food-safety awareness.

 Dependable attendance, respectful communication, and willingness to learn Pleasant Vista's standards.

 Availability for scheduled evenings, weekends, and event-based shifts.
