Job Description

Under the direction of the Radiologist and CT Supervisor, this position involves performing CT procedures in accordance with department protocols at a technical level. The role requires the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and to perform a variety of technical procedures, including interventional cases, CT Angiography, and advanced 3D reconstruction. Independent judgment and initiative are essential to apply ionizing radiation while adhering to the ALARA principle for CT diagnosis.

Key Responsibilities

• Support and promote the mission and values of the organization.
• Acquire scans in compliance with radiologist and departmental protocols.
• Inform and instruct patients about examinations to ensure cooperation.
• Assist the radiologist during interventional procedures.
• Coordinate daily workload by scheduling inpatients and prioritizing emergency department cases while considering outpatient schedules.
• Review IV Contrast Questionnaire with patients receiving IV contrast.
• Document patient information and procedures using the Electronic Medical Record system.
• Review exams in PACS for completeness before submission to the radiologist.
• Ensure the safety of all patients within the department.
• Be flexible to assist with 24/7 departmental coverage.
• Arrive on time for all assigned shifts, including on-call duties, holidays, and weekends.
• Complete mandatory training, competencies, and continuing education units as required.
• Adhere to dress code policies and maintain HIPAA compliance.
• Clean and stock supplies to maintain a professional workspace.
• Perform other duties as necessary for this role.

Job Requirements

• Current ARRT certification is required.
• ARRT CT Registry eligibility is preferred.
• NH Imaging License is required.
• BLS Certification is required.
• CT Scan experience is needed.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Knowledge and Skills

• Familiarity with CT Scan software (GE and Siemens preferred).
• Knowledge of PACS software (McKesson Change Healthcare preferred).
• Experience with Electronic Medical Records (Epic preferred).
• Skilled in patient preparation, positioning, and scan acquisition according to protocols.
• Able to identify anatomy, pathology, and contrast enhancement on cross-sectional imaging.
• Capable of obtaining patient history to ensure medical necessity.
• Committed to routinely minimizing radiation exposure to patients and staff.
• Understanding of daily QA protocols and warm-up procedures for CT Scan equipment.
• Able to troubleshoot CT Scan equipment problems and contact services as necessary.
• Practice ALARA principles consistently.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands

Must possess the physical and mental abilities to perform tasks associated with the position, which include a combination of sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching. Lifting and carrying frequently up to 35 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds is required. The position may involve stress due to the high level of responsibility for quality care.
