Lead Reporter and Managing Editor

At its core, this is a storytelling role. You will find the stories, report them, write them, edit them, and then figure out every possible way to get them in front of the people who need to hear them. The platforms change — print, web, audio, video, social — but the job is always the same: tell a great story, and tell it well. You will be the editorial voice of Buckhead.com, The Buckhead Paper, and the broader brand portfolio — writing, editing, ghostwriting, managing the content calendar, extending stories across platforms, overseeing the websites, and keeping the whole operation running at a high standard. You are the editor, the publisher, and the chief storyteller. Ben Hirsh is deeply involved in the editorial vision and will be a close collaborator, not a hands-off owner. He generates ideas, has strong instincts for story, and writes himself. Your job is to elevate what he produces, add your own original reporting, and build the operational infrastructure that makes great content repeatable. This role also manages any outsourced content technology work — if we bring in a contractor for podcast production or content distribution, you own that relationship. You review, approve, and deliver. Ben does not manage that layer. Writing & Editorial Ghostwrite original articles, commentary, and columns on behalf of Ben Hirsh across all three brands Write the majority of original editorial content for Buckhead.com and The Buckhead Paper — profiles, features, community stories, event coverage, and neighborhood reporting Edit articles written by Ben and other contributors; provide substantive editorial feedback, not just line edits Maintain and develop a consistent editorial voice for each brand that feels distinct but coherent Develop and pitch original story ideas; bring your own journalistic curiosity to the content calendar Source Development & Interviewing Pursue and secure interviews with Buckhead's most influential people — business leaders, philanthropists, architects, developers, restaurateurs, artists, and community figures who are hard to reach Build and maintain a network of sources, publicists, PR contacts, and community connectors who feed story leads Conduct on-the-record interviews that produce compelling, nuanced, publishable profiles Content Production & Distribution Manage the full editorial calendar across print and digital, ensuring content is planned, produced, and published on schedule Direct photographers and videographers on story-driven shoots (editorial and community-focused, not listing photography); brief, review, and approve creative output Content Extension & Social Media A published story is the starting point, not the ending point. Every great piece of content we produce should reach our audience in multiple forms — and AI makes that possible without multiplying the workload. The model is simple: write the story once, then use technology to extend it as far as it can go. AI tools (including Claude, ElevenLabs, HeyGen, CapCut, and Descript) are already part of the workflow. You will use them to execute this extension strategy efficiently. Audio podcast: adapt published Buckhead.com articles into AI-narrated podcast episodes using ElevenLabs; produce and publish to Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and other platforms; a Buckhead story a reader can listen to on their commute is a story that reaches twice the audience Video podcast: build toward recorded and AI-assisted video podcast episodes for YouTube; near-term this means audio-first with simple visual packaging; longer-term this means on-camera conversations with the people and personalities who make Buckhead what it is Social media — editorial brands: extend every published story across the social channels for Buckhead.com, The Buckhead Paper, and SandySprings.com; this means platform-native formats — pull quotes for Instagram, short‑form video for Reels and TikTok, conversation starters for Facebook, professional insight for LinkedIn — not just links to articles Social media — Hirsh Real Estate: manage the real‑estate brand’s social channels with the same creative discipline as the editorial channels; content includes property highlights, Buckhead market commentary, neighborhood storytelling, and Ben’s perspective as a leading local broker; the goal is a social presence that feels like an extension of the journalism, not a listing feed If content extension work is outsourced to a specialist contractor, own that relationship end‑to‑end: brief, review, approve, and publish; the editorial standard does not change because someone else is producing the asset Contractor Management If content technology work is outsourced, own that vendor relationship end‑to‑end: brief, review, approve, and deliver Ben does not manage this layer — you are the editorial decision‑maker for all content before it publishes #J-18808-Ljbffr ATLANTA PRESS CLUB
