Position Summary Play Academy is seeking an energetic, engaging, and motivating Tennis Instructor to join our team. This individual will lead group and private tennis lessons for participants of all ages and skill levels, creating a fun, safe, and encouraging environment that fosters skill development and a love of the game. Key Responsibilities Lead structured tennis lessons and private sessions in alignment with Play Academy standards and programming guidelines. Provide clear instruction, demonstrations, and verbal cues to ensure safe and effective technique. Create a positive, encouraging, and inclusive class atmosphere. Modify drills and lessons to accommodate varying ages, skill levels, and physical abilities. Ensure participant safety and proper use of equipment and courts. Arrive early to prepare courts and remain after lessons for cleanup and participant support. Track attendance, progress, and communicate updates or concerns to participants and management. Represent Play Academy in a professional and positive manner at all times. Independent Contractor Status (1099) This position is classified as a 1099 Independent Contractor role. Contractor is responsible for their own taxes, insurance, and certifications. Schedule based on class and private lesson availability. Physical Requirements Ability to demonstrate tennis techniques and remain physically active during lessons. Ability to walk, run, swing, and move quickly on court for extended periods. Ability to lift and manage light equipment (racquets, balls, cones, nets). Compensation Competitive per‑class and per‑session compensation based on experience. Work Location In person, at community tennis courts. Qualifications Certification from an accredited organization such as the United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA) or Professional Tennis Registry (PTR). Prior experience teaching tennis lessons preferred. Strong knowledge of tennis techniques, rules, and drills. CPR/AED and First Aid Certification required (or willingness to obtain). Strong communication, motivational, and engagement skills. Reliable, punctual, and professional.
