Summary of Essential Duties:

As a Cardiac Sonographer Level II, you will be responsible for performing Echocardiogram or TTE exams, with Color, Spectral Doppler and 2-D imaging in the inpatient setting throughout the Medical Center and procedural areas, recovery rooms and Emergency Department. We are seeking an experienced Sonographer who can demonstrate proficiency in the performance of all procedures and competency in the use of all related ultrasound equipment and computers.

Responsibilities

• Performs and calculates measurements of adult and geriatric 2-Dimensional Echo cardiograms and Color Flow/Spectral Doppler studies.
• Participates in the introduction and implementation of new procedures/protocols and in the evaluation of new imaging equipment.
• Reviews and reports daily operational status of equipment. Cleans and properly stores equipment after use. Ensures sterile technique and radiation safety are followed. Makes sure all potential needed supplies are available when entering patient room.
• Demonstrate ability to image in emergent situations, such as cardiac/respiratory arrest, and trauma during any procedures.
• Performs imaging in the presence of medical support devices and functional data while using different systems of ultrasound equipment, such as Left Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD), Right Ventricular Assist Device (RVAD), Impella, Tandem heart, Intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP), and Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO).
• Provides patient and family education, specific to procedure and preparation for test within scope of discipline. Reviews patient's medical history, previews ultrasound images and prepares preliminary reports.
• Performs 2D echo exams portably in the inpatient setting, such as Patient care areas, Emergency Department, Cath Lab, PACU, and others independently, accurately, efficiently and effectively.
• Initiates updates in CS Link System List/In-Basket acknowledging echocardiography processes and procedures.
• Works in collaboration with interdisciplinary team such as attending/residents, and clinical staff to ensure accuracy in echocardiography testing activities.
• May assist in coordinating unit activities as needed.

Qualifications

Education:

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Graduate of a 2-year diagnostic medical sonography program accredited by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) required

Licenses/Certifications:

• Current ARDMS/CCI certification required
• Applicants with no certification may be considered as an Echo Sonographer I if willing to obtain RDCS or RCS within one year from start date
• Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required

Experience:

• A minimum of 3 years of experience as a full-time sonographer required
• Applicants with less than 3 years of experience may be considered as an Echo Sonographer I
