RETAIL MERCHANDISING MANAGER

Central Amusement International Inc. (CAI) is seeking a dynamic and experienced Retail Merchandising Manager to oversee all retail and photo operations at Luna Park in Coney Island. The Retail Merchandise Manager oversees the strategy, daily operations, staffing, merchandising, and financial performance of all retail and photo locations throughout Luna Park. This role ensures exceptional guest experiences, drives revenue, maintains product quality and inventory control, and leads seasonal and year‑round teams in a fast‑paced amusement park environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

\n

Operational Leadership & Guest Experience

\n

\n
• Oversee day-to-day operations of all retail locations and photo/video booths.
\n
• Ensure operational uptime by coordinating with Maintenance, Facilities, and IT.
\n
• Enforce company guidelines including safety, uniforms, cash handling, and guest service.
\n
• Implement and maintain SOP’s for Retail and Photo/Video team members.
\n
• Ensures a safe, clean, and well-maintained work environment to protect the health, safety, and well-being of team members and guests
\n
• Assure emergency preparation for incidents, power outages and inclement weather.
\n
• Maintains the facility’s visual presentation and overall show quality, ensuring high standards of appearance, cleanliness, and attention to detail.
\n
• Maintain Retail Department records by implementing a document control system.
\n
• Supervise guest experience quality across all locations.
\n
• Serve as Manager on Duty as scheduled.
\n
• Address guest concerns and maintain high-quality interactions.
\n

\n

Financial & Inventory Management

\n

\n
• Achieve budget goals in sales, COGS, labor cost, and uptime.
\n
• Oversee procurement, inventory, and COGS for retail locations.
\n
• Coordinate procurement and inventory of photo booth items with Finance & Administration.
\n
• Identify pricing opportunities and ensure sustainability compliance.
\n
• Produce accurate daily, weekly, and monthly reports.
\n
• Track KPIS including per cap spending, shrink percentage, sales conversion rates.
\n

Merchandising & Product Strategy

\n

\n
• Identify new retail products that align with park themes.
\n
• Collaborate with marketing on branded merchandise and proprietary designs.
\n
• Monitor retail trends and improve product variety.
\n
• Build strong relationships with vendors and equipment suppliers.
\n

\n

\n

Team Leadership & Development

\n

\n
• Interview, hire, train, and develop Retail & Photo Operations team members.
\n
• Train and supervise Coordinators, Supervisors, and frontline staff.
\n
• Manage scheduling and time-clock approvals across all locations.
\n
• Set sales goals and develop incentive programs.
\n

\n

Cross Department Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

\n

\n
• Work with Marketing on promotions and advertising.
\n
• Coordinate with IT, Facilities, and Maintenance to reduce downtime.
\n
• Coordinate full life cycle recruitment efforts for high volume seasonal positions with the HR Department.
\n
• Stay current on industry trends and best practices.
\n
• Perform other duties expected of the Retail Manager position and assist in all other operations as assigned and directed by the General Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

\n

\n
• Five (5) years of Retail Management experience.
\n
• Bachelor’s degree in business or related field is preferred.
\n
• Enthusiasm, organized, detail oriented & positive attitude.
\n
• Guest service-oriented culture mindset with excellent communication skills.
\n
• Proficiency in Point of Sales systems & Microsoft Office.
\n
• Required to obtain CPR and First Aid certification within 1st year of employment.
\n
• Sales mindset identifying opportunities to enhance guest experience and drive revenue.
\n
• Ability to manage a team and provide training as required.
\n
• Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
\n
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays. During the operating season, this position is expected to work as necessary, including weekends and holidays in performing all responsibilities for the role and necessary for the department’s success.

• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.

• Ability to navigate all retail and photo locations throughout the park.
