About the Position

Job Title: RN - ICU Profession: Nursing Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 12 Hour Night Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 2 Years ICU RN Experience License: RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: 6 Months EPIC Experience Description: Seeking an experienced RN for the ICU. This facility has 637 licensed beds. It is a Level 1 Trauma Designation facility. The institution serves as a teaching hospital. Patients in this ICU setting may include those with DKA, sepsis, respiratory failure, kidney and liver failure, GI bleeds, and other critical conditions. Common diagnostic categories include medical ICU, surgical trauma ICU, neuro ICU, and cardiovascular ICU. Patient ratios vary by unit. In the ICU, ratios are typically 1:1 to 1:2, occasionally 1:3 depending on acuity. Travelers will not manage devices such as ECMO or fresh open hearts. General nursing skills required include trach care, chest tube management, and IV starts. Commonly administered medications include insulin drips, heparin drips, and sedation drips. Travelers will be supported by CNAs for patient care duties. The unit will have a charge nurse and resource nurses available. Telemetry monitoring is the responsibility of the ICU. Utilization in a float pool capacity is expected. Travelers may be required to float between various units as needed. Team-oriented and busy unit environment.
