As a Retail Banking Sales & Service Lead, you will guide, direct, and coach employees to deliver exceptional service to BMO customers and prospects. You will identify customer needs, advise on products and strategies, and make referrals to other business groups to meet strategic customer experience and profitability goals while complying with legal and regulatory requirements and BMO’s policies.
Responsibilities
- Guide, direct, and coach staff to achieve sales and service objectives.
- Adopt a customer‑first approach by understanding needs and advising on financially appropriate products.
- Develop and execute market and branch business plans to achieve sales objectives and acquire new clients.
- Create business‑development strategies, collaborate with BMO partners, and maximize branch revenues, sales, and customer satisfaction.
- Conduct customer conversations to provide strategic advice, build rapport, and address escalated sales or relationship issues.
- Monitor and review performance of existing accounts and client relationships; conduct cold calls and community networking to develop new business.
- Maintain high‑touch relationships with key market customers, prospects, and centers of influence.
- Reinforce sales processes, identify gaps, and implement action plans to close performance gaps.
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, implement strategic initiatives, and lead cross‑functional teams.
- Interpret regulations and policies, recommend improvements, and act as a subject‑matter expert.
- Provide strategic insights through independent analysis and data assessment.
- Coordinate implementation of national and regional sales and service initiatives.
- Control unit operating expenses against forecasts and ensure quality execution.
- Resolve complex customer situations and maintain confidentiality of customer and bank information.
Qualifications
- Typically 9+ years of relevant experience and a post‑secondary degree (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
- Previous supervisory or management experience.
- Expert knowledge of retail banking products, services, and branch operations.
- Expert knowledge of branch technologies, performance metrics, and applicable regulations.
- Multi‑license requirements may include Securities Industry Essentials (SIE) and Series 6, 63, 65, or 7 and 66, depending on responsibilities.
- Strong verbal and written communication, analytical, problem‑solving, and influence skills.
- Expert collaboration, cross‑group teamwork, and data‑driven decision‑making.
- Ability to manage ambiguity and lead change initiatives.
Salary & Benefits
Salary: $150,700.00 – $261,800.00 (Salaried). The range may vary by location, skills, experience, and certification. Compensation may include performance incentives, bonuses, and a commission structure for eligible roles. BMO offers health insurance, tuition reimbursement, accident and life insurance, and retirement savings plans.
