We are partnering with a well-established commercial general contractor in the Greater Philadelphia market that is looking to add an Assistant Controller to its accounting and finance team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced construction accounting professional who wants to take the next step in their career. The Assistant Controller will work closely with senior leadership and the Controller while helping oversee day-to-day accounting operations, project financial reporting, job costing, month-end close, and internal controls.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of construction accounting and project financials, with experience working in an ERP environment such as CMiC highly preferred.

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to join our growing construction company. This role will partner closely with leadership to oversee accounting operations, ensure accurate financial reporting, maintain strong internal controls, and support the company's continued growth.

Responsibilities

• Assist in managing the company's accounting and financial operations.
• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts and maintain the accuracy of financial records.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management activities.
• Coordinate year-end audit activities and work with external auditors.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies.
• Oversee general ledger activities and month-end close processes.
• Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy.
• Provide guidance on complex accounting and reporting matters.
• Collaborate with department leaders to support company objectives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Experience within commercial construction, general contracting, or a related project-based environment strongly preferred
• Strong understanding of job-cost accounting and WIP reporting
• Experience with month-end close and financial statement preparation
• CMiC experience highly preferred
• Strong Excel and financial reporting skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with both accounting and construction operations teams
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities
