By joining our network, you position yourself for opportunities aligned with your career goals.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and build new tools, dies, fixtures, and gauges.Repair and maintain existing tooling to ensure optimal production.Operate a variety of machine tools such such as lathes, mills, grinders, and EDMs.Interpret blueprints, sketches, and 3D models to determine tooling requirements.Perform precision measurements using calipers, micrometers, and gauges to verify part conformity.Collaborate with engineers and production staff to troubleshoot manufacturing issues and improve processes.Recommended QualificationsCompletion of a formal apprenticeship program or equivalent experience (4+ years) as a Tool and Die Maker.Proficient in interpreting complex blueprints, schematics, and engineering drawings.Demonstrated expertise in operating manual and CNC machinery (e.g., lathes, mills, grinders, EDMs).Strong understanding of metallurgy, heat treatment processes, and various material properties.Proven ability to use precision measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers, gauges) for quality control.Bonus QualificationsExperience with CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Mastercam) for design and programmingProficiency in operating and programming CNC machinery (e.g., mills, lathes, EDM)Certification or advanced training in metrology and precision measurement techniquesExperience with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologiesAbility to troubleshoot and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems in tooling applicationsJob Titles That Should ApplyTool Maker, Die Maker, Mold Maker, CNC Machinist, Journeyman Toolmaker, Precision Machinist, Metal Fabricator, Journeyman Die Maker, Tool and Die Maker Apprentice, Manual MachinistWhy The Pivot Group NetworkThe Pivot Group Network was founded by manufacturing professionals who've been on both sides of the hiring process.
