What Your Job Will Be Like We are seeking a dedicated and energetic individual to join our Facilities Management team as a Facilities Civil Engineer (Job title: Civil & Structural Engineer, Facilities). This role involves a variety of senior-level responsibilities in a dynamic National Laboratory environment. The ideal candidate will be adaptable, service-oriented, and skilled in problem-solving across multi-faceted situations. On any given day, you may be called on to: Perform as Owner representative within a service group for the site Civil infrastructure systems Perform investigative analyses to determine causes and origins of Civil infrastructure system failures Inspect construction progress at the jobsites for compliance with design requirements, codes, customer needs, and site standards Perform Civil design for site infrastructure, and/or oversee design by others, and integrate designs to ensure safe, reliable, efficient operations to meet customer requirements, relevant building codes, environmental regulations, safety regulations, and corporate standards Assess capabilities and conditions of existing Civil site infrastructure systems, and make recommendations for improvement to Management Manage and interface with external contracted resources for the completion of design and construction work in compliance with site design and construction standards Develop and/or contribute to the development of project plans, schedules, and project cost estimates Review plans for constructability and completeness as well as improve cost effectiveness and customer satisfaction Summarize completed construction and planning efforts through project close out processes to maintain site standards and documentation Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite. Salary Range $121,900 - $237,800 *Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential. Qualifications We Require Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline with at least eight years of relevant experience in facilities planning, design, construction, execution, or operations Experience performing civil design for the development of various site infrastructure systems, such as storm drainage, and erosion control Knowledge of California Building Codes and California environmental regulations Ability to obtain Professional Engineer license (PE) in the State of California within a year of hire Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance Qualifications We Desire Master's degree in Civil Engineering Project Management Professional (PMP) certification and/or demonstrated project management experience Experience performing civil design for Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) Division 33 Utilities, and Division 32 Exterior Improvements Experience with Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and/or Building Information Modeling (BIM) Experience utilizing AutoCad or similar drafting software About Our Team Our organization operates and maintains existing buildings and utilities; modifies, and constructs new buildings; demolishes substandard structures; and provides site services for customers.
