As a Patrol Deputy, you will promote and maintain a safe and peaceful community; preserve order; protect life and property; enforce laws and ordinances; safeguard individual liberties; treat others with fairness, dignity, and respect; carry out duties in conformance with Federal and State statutes while following the policies and procedures of Archuleta County and the Archuleta County Sheriff's Office; respond to emergencies as a first responder; provide mutual assistance during emergency situations.

Examples of duties include promoting and maintaining a safe and peaceful community, preserving order, protecting life and property, enforcing laws and ordinances, safeguarding individual liberties, treating others with fairness, dignity, and respect, carrying out duties in conformance with Federal and State statutes while following the policies and procedures of Archuleta County and the Archuleta County Sheriff's Office, responding to emergencies as a first responder, providing mutual assistance during emergency situations, attending required departmental meetings, performing duties respective of assignment, performing other duties as may be assigned by supervisory personnel, taking calls for service and writing reports as needed, arresting violators of the law and preparing required paperwork, preparing for and testifying in court, recovering lost and/or stolen property, assisting other divisions of the Sheriff's Office, as well as other law enforcement agencies, assisting at crime scenes, patrolling county area, ensuing citizen safety, maintaining contact with department supervisory personnel to coordinate activities, and working an assigned shift using discretionary judgment in the performance of sworn duties.

Minimum qualifications and requirements include being at least 21 years of age, possessing a high school diploma or GED, having a valid Colorado Driver's License, and completion of a Colorado P.O.S.T. approved basic law enforcement academy including skills and firearms training.
