Electromechanical Assembler

The Electromechanical Assembler performs electronic and electro-mechanical assembly on assemblies and sub-assemblies, including wiring, component installation, hand soldering, and cable harnessing. This role sets up and adjusts equipment to meet blueprint specifications and tight tolerances, and completes semi-routine tasks while using sound judgment when deviations are needed. The position applies established job skills and procedures to achieve assigned work and may require a small amount of overtime when necessary.

Responsibilities

• Perform electronic and electro-mechanical assembly on assemblies and sub-assemblies according to specifications.
• Conduct wiring, component installation, hand soldering, and cable harnessing to build complete units.
• Set up and adjust equipment to meet blueprint specifications, schematics, and defined tolerances.
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and work instructions to guide assembly work.
• Apply established job skills and company procedures to complete semi-routine tasks accurately and efficiently.
• Use judgment to determine when deviations from standard procedures are needed and escalate issues as appropriate.
• Follow safety practices and use assembly tools and equipment correctly to maintain a safe work area.
• Inspect work for accuracy, quality, and adherence to tight tolerances before moving to the next stage.
• Work independently on assigned tasks while meeting production schedules and quality standards.
• Work overtime as required, typically 5–10% of weekly hours, to support production demands.

Essential Skills

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 1 year of experience in electronic or electro-mechanical assembly.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and work instructions.
• Proficiency in hand soldering for electronic components.
• Proficiency in wiring and cable assembly, including cable harness assembly.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to work to tight tolerances.
• Basic knowledge of assembly tools, equipment, and safety practices.
• Ability to follow established procedures and work independently on semi-routine tasks.
• Willingness to work required overtime, typically 5–10% of weekly hours.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with mechanical assembly and understanding of blueprints and mechanics.
• Experience in an electronic or electro-mechanical production environment.
• Comfort working with standard assembly and soldering tools and equipment.
• Ability to collaborate with team members while maintaining individual accountability for assigned tasks.

Work Environment

This role operates in a standard engineering and production environment, with engineering staff working in cubicles or offices and all production activities taking place on-site. The position follows a first-shift schedule from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with opportunities for overtime based on workload and production needs. The work involves hands-on use of assembly tools and equipment, including soldering tools and fixtures used for electronic and electro-mechanical assembly, within a setting that emphasizes adherence to safety practices and consistent, high-quality output.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ronkonkoma, NY.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $27.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
