Benton Community Schools will train applicants who wish to become qualified to drive a school bus for Benton Community Schools. Whether you can drive mornings, afternoons or both, we would love to have you.

FREE TRAINING and a SIGN ON BONUS OF $175 - after completion and obtaining the CDL B with a P(passenger) and S (school bus) endorsements.

School Bus Driver


Reports to:
Transportation Director

Goal:
To provide safe and efficient transportation services.

What to expect:

• Starting pay $25.16 up to $34.56 an hour
• Minimum of 4 hours a day

Qualifications:

1. A valid Indiana Driver License
2. Obtain a Class B CDL with airbrakes, passenger and school bus endorsements
3. Clean driving history
4. High school graduate or equivalent
5. Pass a pre-employment drug screen
6. Pass a background check
7. Demonstrate the ability to work cooperatively with other staff.
8. Pass a DOT Physical and Physical Fitness Test every two years
9. The ability to learn new skills

Responsibilities:

1. Complete a pre-trip inspection prior to each use of the bus.
2. Obey all traffic laws.
3. Observe all FCC regulations for the use of the two-way radio.
4. Supervise the boarding and deboarding of students.
5. Maintain discipline when students are on the bus.
6. Keep assigned bus(es) clean each day.
7. Follow assigned schedules and routes.
8. Discharge students only at authorized stops.
9. Transport only authorized students.
10. Report all accidents and complete proper forms.
11. maintain at least one half a tank of fuel.
12. Attend meetings as requested or required.
13. Complete all required paperwork timely.
14. Follow all procedures, policies, and directives of the district.
15. Perform other duties as assigned or needed.
16. Comply with all directives from supervisor-written or verbal.
