Overview Application Deadline: 1 June 2026 Department: Administration Employment Type: Full Time Location: Vancouver, WA - Office Reporting To: President Compensation: $130,000 - $180,000 / year Description MJ Hughes Construction is a Heavy Civil General Contractor. While we have a diverse range of self perform scopes, we specialize in structural concrete and related means and methods. Our primary clients are governmental entities such as State and Federal DOTs, BOR and USACE. Experience with these entities and scopes is required for this position. Our Process We are a small, highly focused and tight knit team of professionals. The decision to add to our team is not taken lightly. This final interview will introduce you to the tools we use and give you the opportunity to exhibit your skills and knowledge on a real project. Key Responsibilities Oversee estimating process including solicitation of bids from vendors and subcontractors; tracking, follow up and reporting on multiple estimates Assist in preparing technical narratives for RFP and RFQ responses Develop, adjust, and communicate estimating process improvements Ensure the timely completion of estimates within tight deadlines and assigned budgets, including timely reviews with senior management. Participate in professional organizations to ensure updated knowledge of trends and practices within the construction industry Skills, Knowledge and Expertise Minimum of 8 years’ experience in heavy civil construction, at least 3 years of estimating experience Knowledge of construction practices for earthwork and concrete construction projects Expertise with unit price contracting Preferably has experience with HCSS Heavy Bid, Blue Beam, Insite takeoff Availability to travel regionally as needed for business purposes Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering preferred Benefits Health Insurance - 100% paid for employee, 50% for dependents - additions such as group dental, vision and life available for purchase.
