What We're Looking For As a Product Manager, you will figure out how our models, harness, and platform become useful and deployable inside real engineering organizations. You'll focus on the product capabilities, workflows, and integrations that mechanical engineers need to adopt our technology in their day-to-day work, and turn what you learn from customers into clear direction for the team and a repeatable commercial strategy. This role requires experience building and selling software to manufacturing and engineering customers, strong product judgment, and a deep understanding of how engineering organizations evaluate and adopt new tools. You understand how a mechanical engineer decides a product is worth using, how their organization decides to pay for it, and the technical, organizational, and commercial steps that connect the two. You'll source the design partners, run the customer conversations yourself, and carry the commercial motion alongside the product direction. You might come from product at a CAD or engineering software company like Onshape, nTop, or Autodesk, from a hardware or manufacturing company where you ran a product line, or from an engineering role that turned into product work. You understand how engineering organizations evaluate, buy, and adopt new tools, and what it takes to displace software that has been in a workflow for twenty years. You'll be the bridge between our research team building new generations of our model and the customers and partners deciding whether to bet on it. This is a fully in-person role at our office in SF. Responsibilities Talk to customers and work out specifically how Spectral's model, harness, and platform can be useful to them given their organizational needs. Source and run design partnerships end to end. You run the customer conversations yourself, from first call, demo, technical evaluation, to the commercial conversation that follows. Use what you learn to guide internal development priorities. You'll gather and hold valuable information, and the team's picture of which capabilities matter most, and in what order, should come largely from you. Turn what works in deployments into a scalable commercial and pricing strategy: what we charge for, how it's packaged, and what makes a deal repeatable instead of bespoke. Scale the deployment organization so we can do this across geographies, verticals, and customer sizes. Define how engagements run, what carries over between them, and who we need to hire to keep up. Explore other opportunities with customers and prospects, including data licensing partnerships. Carry feedback from users back to research and engineering with judgment about what's worth building, what's a one-off, and what the model can realistically deliver. Work alongside the forward-deployed engineer on design partner engagements. You set what we commit to and why; they build what those partners need. Shape positioning and messaging for a technical audience. Make the case for why an engineering team should change how they work. Track the competitive and market landscape across CAD, generative design, and AI tooling for hardware, and bring that view back to the team. Represent Spectral in front of technical buyers, engineering leaders, and executive stakeholders. Qualifications You have built and sold software to manufacturing and engineering customers; you've worked on a technical product that these buyers used in their real work, and you've been in the room when they decided whether to pay for it. 4+ years in product management or a comparable product and commercial role, shipping technical products to engineering, design, or manufacturing audiences. You've carried a commercial outcome, not just a product spec: you're comfortable running a deal conversation with no one else in the room. You have strong commercial instincts and can build the business case behind a prioritization argument and reason about segmentation, pricing, and packaging. Working fluency with professional CAD tools (SolidWorks, NX, CATIA, Onshape, Fusion, or similar) and the workflows around them: parametric modeling, assemblies, drawings, PDM/PLM. You don't need to build the software; you need to speak the language credibly with the people who use it. Strong understanding of engineering and design workflows, including their tools, bottlenecks, and decision-making process when evaluating new software. Excellent communication across different audiences. You can talk to a researcher about model behavior and to a VP of Engineering about procurement and rollout on the same day. A track record of shipping technical products that customers adopted. Big Pluses Formal background/degree in mechanical engineering, product design, or manufacturing engineering, and competitive GPA from a strong program. Experience taking a 0-to-1 product from first design partner to first revenue. Experience building out a deployment, solutions, or professional services function, and making bespoke engagements repeatable. Experience at companies building for hardware/manufacturing at pace, including Anduril, SpaceX, Hadrian, Saronic, nTop, Onshape, and Luminary Cloud. A strong existing rolodex in the industry. You know the engineers, engineering leaders, and buyers at the companies we want as customers, and you can get a first conversation without a cold email. A solutions engineering, field engineering, or manufacturing engineering background that turned into product work. Experience in a technical presales, solutions engineering, or product marketing role at a CAD company. Experience structuring data licensing or partnership deals. Familiarity with CAD data formats (STEP, native formats) and the practical challenges of interoperability. Comfort with data. You define your own metrics and pull your own numbers. Exposure to AI/ML products and environments. You know what it's like to sell a product where the outputs are non-deterministic, and how to set expectations with customers and internally.
