RF Datalink Development Engineer- Entry Level

Job Title Entry Level – RF Datalink Development Engineer Location Redstone Arsenal – Huntsville, AL Job Overview Aviation & Missile Solutions, LLC. (AMS) is seeking a talented Electrical or Computer Engineer to join our diverse team in Huntsville, AL. AMS provides cost‑effective engineering and scientific solutions across air and missile defense technologies, command and control, radar systems, seekers, modeling & simulation, and prototype hardware development and testing. Responsibilities Support RF datalink technology programs, including modeling, simulation, and analysis; Prototyping of hardware and software; Develop, integrate, and test RF datalinks; Design and simulate end‑to‑end communication systems and perform detailed link budget analyses (path loss, atmospheric attenuation, fading, interference); Hardware design and integration: specification, selection, and integration of RF components such as antennas, power amplifiers, low‑noise amplifiers, filters, mixers, and datalink modems; Waveform and protocol development, collaborating with firmware and embedded software developers to implement modulation schemes, error correction, and encryption; Conduct laboratory testing with spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, signal generators, channel simulators, and lead field testing to validate range, throughput, and reliability. Basic Qualifications Excellent math skills and solid fundamentals in electromagnetics, signals and systems, digital signal processing, and controls; Ability to apply these skills to modeling, RF communications analysis, algorithm development, RF hardware, HWIL support, and field testing; Strong interpersonal skills and desire to work with a highly technical team of engineers and scientists; Excellent communication and presentation skills for interaction with customers, coworkers, and management; Resident of Huntsville, AL or willing to relocate. Preferred Skills Object‑oriented programming experience (preferred but not required); Proficiency in MATLAB or Python (preferred but not required). Minimum Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering from an ABET‑accredited university; Graduating GPA of 3.5+; 0‑5 years of experience. Travel Requirements Up to 10% of the year. Physical Requirements Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer; Ability to lift up to 40 lbs; Ability to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities. Security Requirements U.S. citizen only; Holder of Final SECRET/SSBI Clearance (or eligibility to obtain and maintain it).
