We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) Medical-Surgical / Stroke Stepdown for a 13-week contract position in Utica, New York. The RN will provide acute Medical-Surgical and Stroke Stepdown nursing care to adult patients with a variety of complex medical conditions.

Common patient diagnoses include stroke, altered mental status, renal conditions, dialysis, COPD, CHF, pneumonia, pulmonary conditions, isolation cases, and general Medical-Surgical needs . Candidates must have previous Stroke Stepdown experience, prior travel nursing experience, and the flexibility to float based on staffing and patient-care needs.

• Assess adult Medical-Surgical and Stroke Stepdown patients and develop, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing plans of care.

• Monitor neurological and medical status, recognize changes in patient condition, and initiate appropriate nursing interventions and escalation of care.

• Provide nursing care for patients with stroke, renal disease, dialysis needs, COPD, CHF, pneumonia, pulmonary conditions, and other acute medical diagnoses.

• Manage clinical equipment and therapies including IV pumps, nasogastric tubes, and enteral feeding tubes while following established patient-safety standards.

• Maintain accurate clinical documentation using Epic and collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare professionals while floating as required.

• Active New York Registered Nurse (RN) License Required at Time of Submission.

• Minimum 2 Years of Recent Medical-Surgical Nursing Experience Required, Including Stroke Stepdown Experience.

• Previous Travel Nursing Experience Required.

• Current American Heart Association BLS Certification Required.

• Current NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification Required or Must Be Obtained Prior to Start; Epic Experience and Ability to Float Required.

The Medical-Surgical / Stroke Stepdown Registered Nurse will provide skilled, responsive, and patient-centered nursing care while supporting complex adult medical and neurological patient needs.
