Job ID: 10442 Job Information Position Type: Nutrition Services — School Food Program/Coordinator Date Posted: 7/1/2026 Closing Date: 07/17/2026 Summary The Wellness and Special Diets Coordinator is responsible for assessment, development, and implementation of the district wellness policy, and other initiatives as necessary to meet regulatory requirements of wellness and local foods programs. Will oversee programs and policies related to nutrition, allergens and special dietary needs. This role ensures that students have access to healthy, balanced meals and that special dietary requirements are accommodated. Additionally, this position provides ongoing training and education on allergy awareness, proper food handling and general nutrition. Salary Admin/Professional/Technical Pay Schedule, Range 2, starting at $5,471.25 per month (equivalent to $65,655.00 annually), depending on recent relevant experience. 8 hours per day, Monday through Friday on the 12‑month work schedule. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Plan, organize, and collaborate the daily activities of the District’s Health and Wellness Program, including strategic planning and implementation of program functions. Plan, organize, monitor, and collaborate activities to ensure compliance with Local Foods Program, including budget tracking, advisory committee activities, and CDE reporting requirements. Assess current programs and services available to the district and / or school sites that support student wellness. Assess student wellness needs and utilization of current wellness resources. Formulate wellness priorities, collect data, and monitor progress toward established goals. Assist staff in the effective utilization of health and wellness programs, collaborate with appropriate district departments to ensure internal alignment of efforts to achieve well goals. Frequent collaboration with Nutrition services staff, health and nursing staff, other school staff and parents/guardians to develop and monitor processes related to special diets and accommodations, including IEP and 504 plans as needed. Create individual menu plans for specific allergens and/or specific students as needed. Stay current with and ensure compliance with all requirements and regulations related to special dietary needs. Promote healthy eating and plan and facilitate nutrition education for students and nutrition services staff. Ensure required USDA, State, local wellness, and local foods advisory committee compliance tasks are being met. Create, revise and update all documentation and resources related to nutrition, special diets and carbs and allergens to ensure accuracy and compliance. Serve as the primary point of contact for special diet concerns especially in the event of an allergic reaction. Serve as a resource for nutrition related wellness concerns. Participate in meetings and ongoing training related to special diets and food related wellness. Develop and conduct training for food service staff and school staff related to requesting and implementing special diets. Provide training for kitchen staff on food allergy awareness and proper handling procedures. Assist in educating parents, students and staff about allergens and how to navigate special dietary needs. Serve as the point of contact for Smart Snack and Competitive food compliance; provide training and resources as needed. Serve as a preceptor for dietetic and/ or community nutrition interns to include developing projects, activities, and practical experiences aligned with requirements and competencies. Conduct evaluation and assessment of policies and practices as needed. Assist with sourcing allergen free food products and recipes. Other Duties as Assigned Other duties as assigned. Job Qualifications Knowledge, Skills, and Ability Strong knowledge in nutrition, allergens and food safety regulations. Ability to develop, implement and monitor policies, processes, resources and training. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Experience with nutrition software a plus. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities. Exceptional attention to detail. Practice and promote the mission, vision, and values of the department. Education and Training Bachelors or Master's Degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, Food Science, Public Health or related field. Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) preferred. Experience 1-3 years of experience in the foodservice industry or relevant experience. Experience with Child Nutrition programs preferred. Experience with special diets and allergens a plus. Experience with IEP's and 504 plans a plus.
