Mohs Histotech Job Description
Summary: This is a part-time position, working 1-2 days per week. Benefits include paid time off, paid holidays, and scrub allowance. This position reports to the Office Coordinator.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

• Setting up the lab for each day
• Filling stainer with necessary chemicals
• Complete Mohs log book
• Getting cryostat ready
• Make appropriate slides for the day
• Completing frozen sections in a timely, efficient manor
• Putting slides in hematoxylin and eosin stainer
• Cover slipping slides
• Filing slides
• Shutting down lab – cleaning cryostat, emptying necessary chemicals,
• Maintaining lab supplies, notify manager when stock is low
• Preparing Mohs maps and consent paperwork
• Call patients to give biopsy results and scheduling their Mohs appointments
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
Required: High school diploma or equivalent, at least one year of experience in a similar position
Preferred: Knowledge of OSHA/CLIA standards, at least one year of experience performing processes to prepare tissue samples for diagnostic evaluation,

Physical Demands: Prolonged sitting, possible bending, lifting up to 20 lbs., frequent use of medical equipment, ability to focus, exposure to lab chemicals, repetitive head, neck, hands, wrist & arm motions, good motor skills and hand/eye coordination.

Work environment: Primarily lab setting, working independently, but constantly communicating with surgeons, office coordinator, and co-workers
