Fleet Diesel Mechanic (New Grads Welcome to Apply)

Job Summary The Fleet Diesel Mechanic is responsible for assisting with the inspection, maintenance, and repair of company fleet vehicles, including diesel-powered trucks. This role is ideal for individuals beginning their career in diesel mechanics and are eager to learn and develop hands‑on skills in a fast‑paced fleet environment. The ideal candidate is team-oriented with a positive attitude. Supervisory Responsibilities None Essential Duties Assist with preventative maintenance on fleet vehicles, including oil changes, tire rotations, filter replacements, and fluid checks Perform basic diagnostics and repairs under supervision Inspect vehicles to identify mechanical and safety issues Support senior mechanics with engine, brake, electrical, and hydraulic system repairs Complete work orders and maintain accurate maintenance records Ensure all work complies with DOT and company safety standards Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area Respond to roadside service calls as needed Required Skills/Abilities Understanding of diesel engines and systems Familiarity with diagnostic tools and equipment Prioritize safety and maintain clean shop area Exhibit a team-oriented attitude and focus on quality Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent required Technical training in diesel mechanics preferred Valid Class A CDL, or ability to obtain one within 60 days of hire Fleet industry experience or prior automotive experience a plus Physical Requirements Must be in good physical condition with strong motor skills Safely lift up to 50 lbs. repetitively and frequently Ability to use power and hand tools safely Stand, lift, twist, bend, kneel, push, pull, and move for 8 to 12 hours Frequently climb in and out of truck cabs, use stairs and ramps, work in tight spaces Ability to work in a shop setting with exposure to noise, dust, and chemicals (proper safety equipment will be provided) #J-18808-Ljbffr Southern Eagle Sales and Service
