Phlebotomist II - Float

Pay Range: $22.79hr - $24.41hr


Job Overview:


The Patient Services Representative II (PSR II) represents the organization to patients seeking health routine care or insights into health decisions. The PSR II draws quality blood samples from patients and prepares specimens for lab testing while following established practices and procedures. The PSR II maintains direct contact with patients, creating an atmosphere of trust and confidence while explaining procedures and drawing blood specimens in a skillful, safe, and accurate manner. The candidate will focus on process excellence, confidentiality, and accuracy of patient information. The successful candidate may be assigned to a doctor's office, a patient service center, or as business needs dictate. Floaters travel between multiple sites, are expected to arrive on time at their assigned location, and may submit mileage for expense reimbursement.


Responsibilities:

• Perform daily activities accurately and on time under the direction of the area supervisor.
• Maintain a safe and professional work environment.
• Perform both forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing duties following established practices and procedures.
• Perform verification of patient demographic information and initials, including securing patient signatures post-venipuncture to verify tubes were labeled in their presence and that the name on the label is correct.
• Maintain required records and documentation.
• Demonstrate organizational commitment and promote a positive image to patients, clients, employees, and the public.

• Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric collections.
• Flexible and available based on staffing needs, including weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime.
• Committed to all policies and procedures, including dress code, employee health and safety, and guiding principles.
• Ability to make decisions based on established procedures and exercise good judgment.
• Must have reliable transportation, a valid driver's license, and a clean driving record.
• Travel and flexible hours required to work across multiple locations and cover patient service centers or in-office phlebotomy locations with minimal notice.
• Capable of handling multiple priorities in a high-volume setting.
• Demonstrated superior customer focus, open and transparent communication skills, ability to embrace change, and knowledge of the business.

Required Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Medical training (medical assistant or paramedic training) preferred.
• Phlebotomy certification preferred (required in California, Nevada, and Washington).

Work Experience:

• 1-3 years of phlebotomy experience required, inclusive of pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
• 2 years of experience in a Patient Service Center environment preferred.
• Customer service experience in a retail or service environment strongly preferred.
• Keyboard and data entry experience required.
