Joining our team means becoming part of a collaborative culture rooted in inclusion and innovation, where talented professionals build meaningful careers while advancing client interests with integrity.Position OverviewWe are seeking a Healthcare Litigation Associate to join our litigation team and represent healthcare clients in complex disputes involving payer-provider issues, reimbursements, regulatory compliance, and related administrative matters. The ideal candidate will handle courtroom litigation, administrative hearings, and alternative dispute resolution while providing practical advice on HIPAA, Medi-Cal, managed care, and other healthcare-specific regulatory concerns. This role combines courtroom advocacy, strategic case management, and client counseling to achieve favorable outcomes for providers, payers, and healthcare organizations.Key ResponsibilitiesManage a litigation caseload from intake through resolution, including pleadings, discovery, motions, depositions, hearings, and trials.Draft and review complaints, answers, dispositive motions, briefs, settlement agreements, and other litigation documents with attention to legal and factual detail.Conduct legal research and analysis on complex healthcare issues including HIPAA, Medi-Cal, managed care regulations, reimbursement disputes, and payer-provider contract interpretation.Advise clients on regulatory and compliance matters, including privacy/security obligations, audit responses, reimbursement policies, and corrective action plans.Represent clients in mediations, arbitrations, administrative hearings, and court proceedings; prepare witnesses and coordinate with expert witnesses as needed.Manage e-discovery and document review processes, preserving privilege, meeting production deadlines, and leveraging technology for efficient case management.Collaborate with colleagues across practice groups (regulatory, transactional, appeals) to develop litigation strategy and provide comprehensive client service.Communicate proactively with clients about case status, risks, settlement options, and billing; develop and maintain strong client relationships.Monitor changes in healthcare law, regulation, and industry practices and translate developments into client advisories and case strategy.Participate in business development activities, including client pitches, thought leadership, and networking in the healthcare sector.QualificationsJuris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and active membership in good standing with the state bar.3+ years of litigation experience, preferably with a focus on healthcare litigation, payer-provider disputes, reimbursements, or managed care matters.Demonstrated experience and knowledge of HIPAA, Medi-Cal, healthcare regulatory frameworks, and compliance obligations.Proven courtroom and ADR experience; comfort taking and defending depositions and participating in trials, mediations, or administrative hearings.Strong legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills, with experience drafting pleadings, motions, and appellate filings.Experience managing discovery and e-discovery workflows, including working with document review platforms and litigation support teams.Ability to analyze complex reimbursement and contract issues and provide practical, business-oriented advice to healthcare clients.Excellent client service skills, project management, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.Preferred: prior experience representing health plans, hospitals, provider groups, or governmental payers; familiarity with Medi-Cal policies and administrative processes; bilingual skills or prior healthcare operations experience.
