divh2Behavioral Health/Psychiatry Physician Assistant Or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner/h2pNorthwestern Medicine has an exciting opportunity for either a Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner to work in our Behavioral Health/Psychiatry department. The APP will support the psychiatry and behavioral health team across the full addictions continuum of care, with an average of 15 patients per week. Clinical responsibilities include residential, PHP, IOP, and ambulatory clinic visits, as well as limited inpatient coverage related to addictions care, including participation in patient intake assessments./ppSchedule: Monday-Friday/pulli1st shift/liliThe majority of patient care is provided in person, with remote visits available when clinically appropriate. Holiday coverage may be required depending on the call schedule./liliRotating weekend call/liliRotating call approximately 1 weekend per month, from Friday at 5:00 pm through Monday at 7:00 am. Responsibilities include responding to new consults, addressing clinical questions, and rounding on patients as needed. Includes call pay./li/ulpEssential Functions:/pulliDemonstrates clinical expertise and expanded knowledge through patient care activities which may include diagnosis and management of a wide range of health problems./liliResponsible for health outcome of an assigned patient population./liliConfers with collaborating physician and other health professionals in area of clinical expertise./liliDevelops appropriate educational systems for patients, families and staff in areas of expertise./liliMentors graduate students in aspects of advanced practice and patient care./liliActively participates in quality improvement and/or research pertinent to area of expertise./li/ulpResponsibilities:/pulliConducts comprehensive appraisals of patients health status by taking health histories and performing physical examinations in clinical area./liliProvides direct clinical care to patients./liliPrescribes/orders medications, therapies; orders/interprets laboratory tests, x-rays and procedures according to clinical privileges./liliEvaluates patients to determine their need for further health care./liliProvides comprehensive teaching to patients and families./liliDocuments in the medical record all care and education provided and/or procedures performed for which the Licensed Advanced Practice Provider is responsible./liliRefers to other disciplines as appropriate./liliConsultant to other disciplines in areas of expertise./liliIntegrates research based knowledge and clinical expertise in decision making./liliExemplifies a professional image in appearance, manner and presentation./liliAdvocate for patients, families, coworkers, and the community./liliMaintains certifications and continuing education as required for licensure and privileging./liliServes as a patient advocate and role model for Patients First./liliParticipates in unit/departmental/divisional or hospital committees/task forces as appropriate./liliProvides comprehensive teaching strategies for patients and their families./liliDevelops and participates in programs to meet continuing education needs of staff./liliServes as a role model and preceptor to students./liliProvides formal education to both internal and external groups pertinent to area of specialty./liliParticipates in quality improvement and/or research initiatives for specific patient population as appropriate./li/ulpQualifications:/ppRequired:/pulliMasters degree from an accredited school/college of nursing OR masters degree from an accredited Physician Assistant Program/liliCurrent license as a Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois. Current license as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois. Certification as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse by a national certifying body as approved by the Illinois Department of Regulation APRN Board.
