Responsibilities
- Assist the surgical team in preparing cardiovascular procedures in the operating room, maintaining a sterile field and passing instruments, supplies, and medications to surgeons during cases.
- Set up operative instrumentation and sterile field, review equipment inventory for CV procedures, and ensure availability of specialty supplies.
- Perform data collection for assigned surgical cases and maintain equipment cleanliness and readiness; participate in routine housekeeping and equipment decontamination as needed.
- Transport patients per unit priorities and assist with clerical duties, instrument counts (sponges, needles, blades) with the RN, and accurate labeling of solutions.
- Scrub CV cases, including open-heart procedures, solo or with a second scrub; maintain aseptic technique and assist in rapid instrument retrieval during procedures.
- Maintain EPIC documentation for cases and collaborate with the team to support efficient procedural flow and patient safety.

Requirements
- Certifications: Certified Surgical Technician (CST) or Tech in Surgery-CV (TS-C NCCT) certification required; current CPR/BLS from an approved vendor.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of recent open-heart CV surgery scrubbing experience; scrub tech experience with ability to scrub CV cases solo and with a second scrub; operating room experience/training preferred.
- Education: High School diploma or GED required; Associate’s/Technical degree preferred.
- EPIC: Must have EPIC experience for charting and case data entry.
- On-call: Ability to take call approximately 50% of the time (typically a full week at a time).
- Licensure: Must meet state requirements for the assigned location; ability to work in the listed operating room setting.
