Director of Engineering / Chief Engineer

Location: Miami-Dade County, FL (Onsite)

A well-established luxury hospitality organization is seeking an experienced Director of Engineering to lead all engineering, maintenance, facilities, and capital improvement initiatives at a premier hotel property. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring a strong combination of hotel engineering expertise, team leadership, and project management experience.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record managing hotel operations, overseeing large-scale renovation projects, maintaining building systems, and leading engineering teams in a guest-focused environment.

• Direct all engineering, maintenance, and facility operations for a full-service hotel property.
• Lead and develop the engineering and maintenance team, ensuring operational excellence and exceptional service standards.
• Manage preventive maintenance programs for HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, life safety, and building systems.
• Oversee capital improvement projects, renovations, room upgrades, and property enhancement initiatives.
• Coordinate contractors, vendors, project schedules, budgets, and resources.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, safety standards, and local, state, and federal requirements.
• Maintain equipment reliability while minimizing downtime and operational disruptions.
• Develop and manage departmental budgets, inventory controls, and maintenance records.
• Partner with executive leadership on strategic facility planning and long-term asset preservation.
• Lead sustainability, energy conservation, and cost-saving initiatives.

• Minimum 5+ years of hotel engineering leadership experience.
• Previous experience as a Chief Engineer, Director of Engineering, Assistant Chief Engineer, or similar hotel engineering management role.
• Strong project management experience is required, including capital projects, renovations, and facility upgrades.
• Extensive knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and building systems.
• Experience managing vendor contracts, budgets, and construction-related projects.
• Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop engineering teams.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA and hotel safety standards.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to prioritize multiple projects and operational demands simultaneously.

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, Construction Management, or a related field.
• Hospitality industry certifications are a plus.
• Experience with luxury, resort, or full-service hotel operations preferred.
