Position Title Registered Nurse – Labor and Delivery, Full Time Nights Job Summary This position works under the general supervision of a physician, advanced practice provider, and/or nursing leadership to provide nursing services in the care and treatment of patients. Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English. At least 1 year of RN experience in Labor & Delivery specialty areas; additional experience may be required based on unit or standard of care. Licenses and Certifications: NLC Nursing Licensure Compact – BNE current Texas (or BNE Compact State) license, BLS BASIC LIFE SUPPORT course accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC). ACLS, NRP, AWHONN Fetal Monitoring Preferred Bachelor’s Degree – BSN Professional Certification in a Nursing Organization Job Duties Performs and accurately documents physical, psychosocial, and emotional assessments. All assessments consider age‑specific criteria for children, adolescents, adults, and older adults. Actively anticipates patients’ and/or family needs and expectations and uses them to develop an appropriate plan of care. Utilizes critical thinking skills in planning and prioritizing nursing care. Identifies and implements appropriate nursing interventions based on the completed assessment. Completes accurate and timely documentation of these interventions and coordinates with the interdisciplinary care team. Appropriately prioritizes nursing interventions based on assessment findings and promptly identifies changes in condition, reporting and taking follow‑up action as appropriate. Evaluates implemented interventions and modifies care according to the evaluation. Documents interventions and modifications to the plan of care accurately and timely. Adheres to relevant hospital and/or Department of Nursing policies, procedures, clinical pathways, and nationally accepted standards of nursing practice, including ANA standards and the care delivery model (Relationship‑Based Care). Provides appropriate and timely answers and education to patients, families, significant others, and/or caregivers. Documents education provided, including discharge plan of care, and assesses competence. Welcomes and orients patient, family, and caregivers to the unit, encourages participation in care, and reviews the personalized care plan each shift. Advocates for resources and support that enhance patient safety and unit/hospital‑based initiatives; participates in evaluating data to guide decisions regarding budgeting and implementation. Performs peer evaluation to provide constructive feedback to colleagues and holds coworkers accountable for policies and standards. Is accountable for patient safety and quality/safety initiatives (e.g., patient safety, patient satisfaction, core measures, infection control). Shares professional and technical information with colleagues and students; offers support as a preceptor, charge nurse, mentor, or unit expert. Performs other duties as assigned.
