The Rays of Hope (ROH) Assistant is responsible for supporting the Rays of Hope Director in the ongoing operation of the ROH program. This is a non-exempt position. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Monitors and maintains volunteer curriculum notebooks. 2. Schedules and assists with intake by providing child tours.
3. Ensures that appropriate paperwork is in place for intake and programs. 4. Provides callers with appropriate community resources. 5. Assists the ROH Coordinator with participant and volunteer attendance. 6. Assists the ROH Coordinator with programs, including class assignments. 7. Assists with coordination of volunteer assignments and activities. 8. Prepares and arranges rooms for groups and activities. 9. Facilitates support groups as needed. 10. Monitors and maintains inventory. 11. Promotes Hospice of Midland and ROH in the community. 12. Supports the Hospice of Midland and ROH Mission and Values. 13. Completes other projects and duties as assigned. The above statements are intended to be a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by incumbents of this job.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS 1. Must have at least a High School diploma or the equivalency. 2. Must pass a drug test and criminal check and have a satisfactory driving history. 3. Must be a licensed driver with an automobile that is insured in accordance with state and/or organization requirements and is in good working order. 4. Must be proficient in reading, writing and speaking English. 5. Must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. 6. Must have good general office and telephone skills. 7. Must have good computer skills and knowledge of programs used by the agency. 8. Must have good knowledge of office equipment. 9. Must understand and promote the Hospice of Midland philosophy. 10. Must maintain confidentiality in all aspects of Hospice of Midland care. 11. Must have the ability to prioritize projects, be organized and flexible. 12. Must be punctual, reliable and available when scheduled, which may include evening hours. 13. Must be able to manage and supervise volunteers. 14. Must have at least one year's experience supervising children in a professional or volunteer basis. 15. Organization personnel are expected to participate in appropriate education as may be requested by their immediate supervisor. In addition, organization personnel are expected to accept personal responsibility for other educational activities to enhance job-related skills and abilities. All personnel must attend mandatory educational programs. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS The Rays of Hope Assistant must be able to sit, stand, squat, bend, kneel, twist and climb. They must also be able to lift and push/pull up to 25 pounds. They also occasionally are exposed to dust, walk on uneven or rough ground, and work near moving equipment. Hands will be used for repetitively grasping and turning, fine manipulation and speed work. ENVIRONMENTAL AND WORKING CONDITIONS 1. May be exposed to extremes of heat and cold in all weather conditions. Must drive in various weather conditions on roads in varying degrees of repair. 2. May be exposed to infections and contagious diseases. May be exposed to patient elements. Subject to varying and unpredictable situations. Handles emergency or crisis situations. Travel required. OSHA Exposure Category II (position includes tasks that involve no exposure to blood, body fluids or tissues, but employment may require some unplanned Category I tasks).
