Position Overview and Qualifications

Role Overview: This position involves providing leadership that enhances the delivery of professional nursing care, ensuring the comfort and well-being of patients. The nursing process—comprising assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation—will be utilized to deliver, delegate, supervise, and document patient care and education for both patients and their families. You will also implement medically prescribed interventions.

Qualifications Required:
  • Essential Education: A Bachelor of Science in Nursing is required, or enrollment in a BSN or advanced degree program with a commitment to obtain a BSN within five years of starting the RN role. Grandfathering will be accepted across departments and entities. Extensions may be granted by the facility's Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) and reported to the CNO Council. Facilities will track exemptions as necessary. RNs with ten or more years of experience are exempt from this requirement.
  • Preferred Education: A Master's degree in Nursing is desirable.
  • Mandatory Licensure/Certifications: Current licensure as a registered nurse with the North Carolina Board of Nursing is required. An Enhanced Nurse License Compact (eNLC) license may be applicable; licensees should verify with the NCBON. Certification in BLS for Healthcare Providers is also necessary.
  • Preferred Licensure/Certifications: National certification in a relevant specialty is advantageous.
  • Essential Experience: A minimum of one year of nursing experience in a hospital setting is required.
