Segment Mechanical Automation EngineerThe HUS Segment Automation Engineer is responsible for assessing, designing, installing, documenting, and troubleshooting automation equipment for new and existing manufacturing processes. This role partners closely with product design, project management, and manufacturing teams to improve production capacity, product quality, and overall plant efficiency through automation solutions. The position also collaborates with automation engineers across Hubbell to recommend technical advancements that support company objectives and maximize productivity.A Day In The LifeAutomation & Process ImprovementIdentify opportunities to implement automation through collaboration with Product Designers, Project Managers, and Manufacturing teamsLead automation equipment projects from concept through sustainment, including specification, vendor management, factory acceptance testing, installation, commissioning, and debuggingDesign and implement process improvement projects to increase efficiency, capacity, and product qualityDevelop, maintain, and update technical documentation including procedures, drawings, schematics, and databasesManufacturing Operations SupportDevelop and sustain long?range automation improvement plansTrain and guide employees on automation processes and control methodologiesDevelop and update procedures and training materials for setup and maintenance personnelProject ManagementProvide leadership and clear communication across project teamsEnsure project objectives, responsibilities, timelines, and budgets are clearly defined and metSupport system design decisions by providing technical input on automation capabilitiesTechnical ResponsibilitiesSupport automation system architecture, including motion control configuration, tuning, data collection, and safety requirementsInterface with mechanical and electrical teams to ensure proper system integrationWhat will help you thrive in this role?Bachelor's degree in Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field8+ years of experience developing and implementing automation equipment in a manufacturing environmentHands?on experience with PLCs, HMIs, vision systems, sensors, and industrial instrumentationExperience with motion control technologies including VFDs, servos, robotics, and related programming toolsStrong understanding of mechanical systems, equipment reliability, and manufacturing processesAbility to manage multiple projects and meet demanding deadlinesStrong communication, organization, and time?management skillsAbility to work independently and collaboratively across teams* Extensive travel required (approximately 50%) Domestic and international travelHubbell Incorporated Hubbell creates critical infrastructure solutions that power our customers, communities, people and the planet.
