Systems Engineer

Systems Engineer III Location: Camarillo, CA (On-site) Employment Type: Full-Time Openings: 1 Security Clearance: Active Secret Clearance Required Experience: 5-10 Years Overview We are seeking a Systems Engineer III to support the development, integration, testing, and verification of advanced embedded software systems for mission-critical aerospace and defense applications. In this role, you will collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to analyze system designs, develop verification strategies, perform testing, and ensure software meets performance and quality requirements. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys working in an Agile environment on complex, highly integrated systems. Responsibilities Analyze and contribute to software system architecture and design. Understand and evaluate interfaces between multiple software and hardware subsystems. Develop test procedures for system verification and validation. Execute module-level integration, functional, regression, and performance testing. Analyze test results, document defects, and collaborate with software developers to resolve issues. Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives. Collaborate with systems, software, hardware, and test engineering teams throughout the development lifecycle. Participate in peer reviews, technical reviews, milestone reviews, and engineering meetings. Support requirements verification and maintain traceability between requirements and test cases. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline with 5+ years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree with 3+ years of relevant experience. Experience writing clear functional and technical requirements. Experience performing integration, functional, regression, and performance testing on embedded software systems. Experience with requirements-based testing and maintaining traceability using IBM DOORS or an equivalent Requirements Management System (RMS). Familiarity with Agile development methodologies, sprint planning, test iteration cycles, and DevSecOps CI/CD processes. Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis skills. Experience tracking and managing software defects. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently. Experience participating in formal technical reviews, walkthroughs, and audits. Ability to interpret: Interface Control Documents (ICDs) Software Requirements Specifications (SRS) System architecture documentation U.S. Citizenship required. Active DoD Secret Security Clearance . Ability to work on-site full-time. Preferred Qualifications Extensive experience conducting integration, functional, regression, and performance testing of embedded software systems. Experience designing and leading comprehensive verification and validation strategies. Experience performing system-level integration, performance, compliance, and acceptance testing. Ability to evaluate verification metrics and ensure software meets technical requirements and stakeholder expectations.Experience analyzing complex test data and leading root cause investigations. Experience coordinating defect resolution across cross-functional engineering teams. Familiarity with aerospace, defense, or other mission-critical software development environments.
