What You'll Do

  • Provide respiratory care therapies, oxygen services, diagnostic testing, and ventilation support for patients of all ages
  • Monitor and wean oxygen therapy and artificial ventilation
  • Draw, analyze, and report arterial blood gases and EKGs
  • Assist with changing artificial airways and deliver therapies as ordered by physicians
  • Educate patients and co-workers on procedures and treatment plans
  • Document all clinical information accurately and thoroughly
  • Maintain professional certifications and stay current with technical procedures
  • Attend staff meetings and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
  • Perform routine and advanced therapeutic procedures per established policies

What You Need

Required:
  • Current Respiratory Therapist license in Louisiana
  • NBRC Certified Respiratory Therapist credential
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association
  • Knowledge of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures
  • Strong computer and communication skills
Preferred:
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • Prior experience with ICU or NICU patient care
