Admissions Clinician

Austen Riggs Center (ARC) is seeking a thoughtful, clinically minded, and highly collaborative Admissions Clinician to help guide prospective patients, families, and referring clinicians through the admissions process. As the first point of contact for many individuals considering treatment, this role plays an essential part in creating a welcoming, informative, and supportive experience from initial inquiry through admission.

In this position, you will provide clear information about ARC’s treatment approach, open setting environment, community life, financial considerations, and admission process. You will conduct pre-admission intake interviews, gather and synthesize collateral clinical information, and help determine whether ARC may be an appropriate fit for each prospective patient. The ideal candidate brings strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and a compassionate, organized approach to working with individuals and families during an important decision-making process.

What You’ll Do

• Engage prospective patients, family members, and referring clinicians in the admission process to assess clinical fit and appropriateness for ARC’s setting.
• Gather complete clinical, medical, and financial information to support admission decision-making.
• Conduct and document pre-admission contacts, conversations, and intake interviews with accuracy and professionalism.
• Manage and coordinate the pre-admission process, including scheduling admissions consultations.
• Coordinate and lead patient and family tours of the facility.
• Facilitate the day-of-admission experience for patients and families, helping ensure a smooth and welcoming transition.
• Participate in outreach efforts, including referral relations meetings, events, and occasional travel related to outreach activities.

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in social science, nursing, social work, or a related field Master's preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience or experience in a psychiatric treatment setting.
• Posses anoutgoing and friendly demeanor with a proven ability to make patients and families feel comfortable and welcome.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and compassionately.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Comfort using electronic health record systems and the Microsoft Office suite.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and protecting patient rights.
