EMC Test Engineer

Job Summary The EMC Test Engineer is responsible for the development and implementation of various Electromagnetic Compatibility and Electrical test methods used in the automotive industry. Additional duties include developing test methods and growing personnel who perform these tests. This position requires competence across all disciplines, with the ability to execute duties independently and complete projects with thoroughness and efficiency while maintaining a high level of overall quality. Essential Responsibilities Set up and perform Radiated Emissions, Radiated Immunity, Conducted Emissions, Conducted Immunity, and Electrical tests. Verify that test, calibration, and quality control results conform to specifications. Create EMC test reports. Evaluate deviations and nonconforming work. Assist Design Engineering team in developing test plans. Lead development and verification of test methods. Develop laboratory procedures and work instructions. Manage development and competence requirements of personnel. Lead management, maintenance, and procurement of equipment. Support Design Engineering team with EMC development and testing activities. Lead all company accreditation activities as it pertains to the laboratory. Perform other job‑related and supportive activity duties as required. Qualifications 5+ years of experience in EMC testing. Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline. No specific certifications required. Excellent knowledge of EMC test engineering practices. Strong knowledge and utilization of industry test and measurement equipment. Experience with OEM test specifications and industry standards. Strong understanding of technical information and drawings. Ability to apply mathematics in development and verification of methods. Strong analytical thinking and problem‑solving skills. Ability to prioritize work and deliver accurate outputs on time under difficult situations. Knowledge of software applications used to control test equipment and monitor test items. Excellent organizational skills for managing multiple tasks and data files. Ability to build formative work relationships with others at all levels. Excellent technical writing and oral communication skills.
