This role focuses on integrating AI into core infrastructure, automation, and operational workflows to drive measurable efficiency, reliability, and scale.In the majority of situations, the incumbent will be the application owner responsible for third party, purchased software aligned with a LOB. Will have responsibility to work with vendor to understand upcoming changes, how the software fits into the technology roadmap and design plans to ensure business continuity and effectiveness. Understands the bank's systems, how they are configured, how we need to reconfigure to meet the changes. Operating within the Bank's risk appetite, you will achieve results while consistently identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, and reporting risks of all types.ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :Build and integrate AI capabilities into existing platforms (automation, incident response, self-service, engineering workflows)Operate and continuously improve AI-enabled services in production environmentsStandardize patterns for AI integration (APIs, orchestration, prompt frameworks, guardrails)Partner with engineering and operations teams to identify and prioritize use casesEnsure solutions meet security, compliance, and reliability requirementsDeliver measurable outcomes (reduced manual effort, faster resolution times, improved platform performance)Work with the line of business to design solutions to incorporate software changes and effectively work with business partners to ensure effective implementationUnderstand the business technology roadmap and make recommendationsImplement and maintain new features and capabilities while continuously improving the quality of our technical products and servicesFollow industry and organizational best practices and standards, and participate in company communities of practice to continuously refine and communicate them. Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.Achieve operational excellence by automating processes and creating maintainable, supportable, and testable solutionsProvide coaching, mentoring, and training for new or less experienced team membersSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES : None.MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED:Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technology field or equivalent combination of education and work experience.Six+ years of engineering or other IT work experience relevant to the position.Strong engineering background (platform engineering, infrastructure, or software engineering)Proven experience building and operating production-grade solutions (not prototypes)Hands-on experience integrating AI/LLM capabilities into enterprise platforms and workflowsExperience with APIs, orchestration frameworks, and automation pipelinesAbility to translate operational problems into scalable, AI-enabled solutionsFamiliarity with governance, risk, and compliance requirements in regulated environmentsExperience integrating with platforms such as ServiceNow, monitoring/observability tools, CI/CD pipelinesAbility to drive adoption across teams and embed solutions into standard workflowsStrong problem-solving and communication skillsWillingness to work in a highly-collaborative environmentPosition not available for immigration sponsorship#LI-MB1Lead AI Platform EngineerAt Fifth Third, we understand the importance of recognizing our employees for the role they play in improving the lives of our customers, communities and each other.
