Respiratory Therapist

This is a 13-week contract position.

Day shift: 3x12 hours.

The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care, offering intensive respiratory care and patient transport as medically prescribed, within the scope of professional license and with minimal supervision. The therapist evaluates patients and recommends treatment plans, explains the purpose and procedures of treatments, tests, and equipment to patients, and provides necessary education upon discharge to home.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct physician-prescribed treatments using various ventilatory equipment, both invasive and non-invasive.
• Administer prescribed medications, humidification, ventilation, and oxygenation to patients using aerosol and nebulizer devices.
• Perform chest physiotherapy and suctioning of patients using multiple techniques.
• Monitor patients through oximetry and capnography according to policy.
• Review patients' chest x-rays to determine further evaluation needs.
• Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) following BLS and ACLS guidelines.
• Assist with respiratory care procedures including bronchoscopy, chest tube placement, and tracheostomy care.
• Communicate with attending and pulmonary physicians regarding patient therapy efficiency.
• Maintain accurate respiratory therapy documentation and charging, including data entry and error correction.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure:

• Current Respiratory Therapist license.
• Certification in BLS and ACLS.
• Experience in respiratory care within a clinical setting is preferred.
