Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced OR RN for a 13-week travel assignment at a Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated academic medical center, with scrub experience strongly preferred and a SC or compact RN license required.

Details

• Work setting is a Level I Trauma Center, academic teaching hospital, and Magnet-designated facility with 820 staffed beds
• Assignment is in the Main OR, which includes 21 suites covering all surgical specialties: Trauma, Transplant, Ortho, Neuro, ENT, GU-GYN, and Robotics
• RNs are trained to both scrub and circulate surgical procedures
• Nursing team is composed of 75% RNs and 25% Certified Surgical Technologists
• Schedule is 3x12-hour day shifts, 6:30 AM – 7:00 PM
• On-call required: up to 4 call shifts per month (end of shift to 7:00 AM)
• One weekend shift (Saturday or Sunday, 6:30 AM – 7:00 PM) required per month
• Floating within scope to similar units or sister facilities may be required
• Charting is done in Epic

Requirements

• Active SC RN license or Compact/Multi-State RN license required; candidates with a pending SC license may be considered
• Current AHA certifications required: BLS and Radiation Badge (badge provided by the agency)
• Minimum 2 years of OR RN experience strongly preferred
• Level I Trauma experience required
• Scrub experience strongly preferred
• A Driver's License and SSN are required for consideration
• Two professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years are required for consideration

Additional Information

• This is a Magnet-designated, nurse-driven OR environment utilizing cutting-edge surgical technology
• Pre-start orientation modules must be completed prior to the first day of the assignment
• Travelers must be willing to participate in emergency response team assignments during hurricane season (June–November), with peak activity in August and September
• Traveler is required to work at least one holiday period: Christmas (Dec. 24–26) or New Year's (Dec. 31–Jan. 1)
• All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted at the time of initial consideration; RTO requests submitted afterward will not be accepted
• Candidates who have previously worked as permanent staff or PRN at any MUSC location must have been separated from the system for at least 1 year before being eligible to work as a traveler
• Local candidates (within 60 miles of the facility) are considered on a case-by-case basis; non-local candidates are given priority
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Scrubs are provided
