Organization: Huntsville Veterinary Specialists & Emergency (HVSE) Position Overview Huntsville Veterinary Specialists & Emergency (HVSE) is seeking a highly skilled Veterinary Anesthetist to join our fast‑paced emergency and specialty care team. This advanced‑level role is responsible for the treatment, sedation, and general anesthesia of both stable and unstable hospitalized patients. The Veterinary Anesthetist plays a critical role in emergency and critical care case management, providing advanced anesthesia management, monitoring, and support for complex and life‑threatening cases. Key Responsibilities Manage advanced anesthesia protocols for patients classified ASA 1–5, ensuring safe sedation and general anesthesia. Provide mechanical ventilation support and manage invasive and non‑invasive monitoring techniques. Perform accurate medication calculations and administer anesthesia‑related medications safely. Oversee transfusion medicine, including blood product administration and monitoring. Manage central line and arterial line placement and care. Provide chest tube care and management as needed. Lead advanced CPR efforts and comprehensive emergency patient stabilization. Conduct rapid patient assessments and provide high‑level anesthesia support during emergency and critical care cases. Collaborate effectively with veterinarians, nursing staff, referring veterinarians, and clients during high‑stress situations. Maintain detailed anesthesia records and communicate patient status clearly to the clinical team. Qualifications & Skills Credentialed veterinary technician with advanced anesthesia training. Strong clinical judgment and ability to respond quickly to changing patient conditions. Advanced technical proficiency in anesthesia and emergency procedures. Experience with emergency and critical care medicine, including mechanical ventilation and invasive monitoring. Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team. Commitment to continued professional development, ongoing continuing education, and maintaining licensing requirements.
