About the Role
The Company is seeking a Chief Information Security, Compliance, and Risk Officer/CISO to lead the strategic planning, development, implementation, and monitoring of institutional information security, privacy, digital compliance, and cyber risk programs. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the company's cyber risk management, policy, and governance program, and will work closely with campus partners to establish security standards, coordinate audit responses, and manage third-party and cloud risks. This role also involves leading the cybersecurity incident response program, providing guidance for business continuity and disaster recovery, and serving as a representative on information security, privacy, and accessibility matters. The CISO will be expected to have a strong background in information security and privacy regulations, experience in executive-level incident response, and the ability to communicate complex technical and regulatory concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. Applicants for the CISO position at the company should have a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, with a preference for a Master's degree, and at least 8 years of experience in information security, cyber risk, or IT compliance, including significant leadership experience. Essential qualifications include a proven track record in setting strategic direction for cybersecurity, compliance, or risk programs, and knowledge of relevant regulations and frameworks. The ideal candidate will have a background in higher education, particularly within a large public university environment, and professional certifications in information security or privacy. The role requires a leader with a commitment to inclusivity, openness, and ethical practices, and the ability to foster a culture of security and compliance awareness across the institution.
